Tata Motors is gearing up to re-establish its strong presence on Indian roads, this time with a revamped version of the classic Tata Sumo.
This SUV was once a favorite among Indian families and government services. Now, the company plans to relaunch it with updated features, a robust engine, and a fresh design.
Tata Sumo Design
The design of the new Tata Sumo will be completely transformed. It will feature a muscular front grille, LED headlights, and new DRL strips, giving it a modern and powerful appearance.
The side profile includes large alloy wheels and high ground clearance, lending it a true SUV feel. The rear will boast new LED taillights and a redesigned tailgate, making it even more appealing. Its body frame is constructed from high-strength steel, ensuring both safety and durability.
Tata Sumo Interior & Comfort
The interior will be more luxurious and comfortable than before. It is expected to feature a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and automatic climate control.
Available in seven and nine-seater variants, this SUV could be an excellent choice for families. The seats will be made of high-quality leather, providing a comfortable experience even on long journeys.
Tata Sumo Engine
The new Sumo is likely to be powered by a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine, producing around 170 horsepower and 350Nm of torque. It is expected to come with both 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options.
This SUV may be available in both 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrain configurations, allowing it to easily handle hilly and off-road terrains. Additionally, the company may incorporate an improved suspension system to minimize shocks and provide a smoother ride.
Tata Sumo Safety
Tata has always been known for safety, and the new Sumo will be even more secure. It is anticipated to have features like six airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, and a 360-degree camera. It is also expected to include a tire pressure monitoring system and hill-hold control.
Tata Sumo Price
The price of the new Sumo in the Indian market is expected to be between ₹10 lakh and ₹15 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, it could pose a strong challenge to vehicles like the Mahindra Bolero and Force Gurkha.
