The rumours have been swirling for years, and now it’s finally here! Yamaha has quietly reintroduced the iconic RX100 with a completely revamped design. This new model boasts a 225cc engine, achieving an impressive top speed of 120 km/h, while remaining more affordable than many 150-160cc commuter bikes. Due to its potent performance, distinctive sound, and classic aesthetic, it’s quickly gaining the nickname “Father of Bullet.”
Price
The new Yamaha RX100 is available for just ₹1.39 lakh (ex-showroom) in select states. That’s correct – a genuine 225cc motorcycle priced under 1.4 lakh rupees! In most cities, the on-road price remains below ₹1.60 lakh. To put this in perspective, a Royal Enfield Classic 350 starts at nearly ₹2 lakh. Currently, the RX100 is the most economical 225cc motorcycle available in India.
Engine & Performance
Underneath the fuel tank lies a completely redesigned 225cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing approximately 20.5 bhp and 19.5 Nm of torque. Yamaha claims it can effortlessly reach 120 km/h. The exhaust produces a rich, deep sound reminiscent of a smaller Bullet. It features a 4-speed gearbox, maintaining the simplicity and enjoyment of the original RX100.
Old Looks, New Heart
The design evokes pure nostalgia with its round headlamp, chrome fuel tank, spoke wheels, and the renowned RX100 emblem. However, it now includes a front disc brake, improved suspension, and tubeless tires. Weighing in at under 120 kg, it feels exceptionally light and agile in traffic.
Features You Get
- Front disc brake
- Analog-digital cluster
- Electric start + kick
- LED tail lamp
- 12-litre fuel tank
- 810 mm seat height (easy for short riders too)
Why People Are Calling It ‘Father of Bullet’
The torque delivery, exhaust note, and relaxed riding experience are reminiscent of a Bullet, but in a lighter, more affordable, and faster package. College students, daily commuters, and even riders in rural areas are enthusiastically embracing it, as it provides a “big bike” sensation at a fraction of the cost.
